Literacy courses
Here you can find our offer of literacy courses in Bern and Biel. They aim at foreign language speakers with little or no knowledge of reading and writing.
Depending on the level, the participants acquire or expand their reading and writing skills, become familiar with the Latin alphabet and numbers, and develop phonological awareness. They expand their oral communication to cope with everyday life, especially in the socio-cultural space of the region. Their ability to act will be increased, their learning strategies are built, and they will learn to use their linguistic resources appropriately.
There is a sequence of five possible modules. They are divided into the appropriate level with a free placement test. Depending on your needs, you can attend the appropriate number of modules.
The intensive literacy courses take place 4 times a week from Tuesday to Friday in the afternoon from 2.00 – 4.30 pm, three lessons a day. One module lasts 12 weeks and includes 144 lessons.
In Bern we offer childcare services in our nursery kidogo for our participants with children of preschool age (registration together with the course registration).
In the course Deutsch mit Fokus Lesen und Schreiben / German with a focus on reading and writing, people who are unaccustomed to school and who have an oral level of A2 or higher train to read and write. The course consists of 4 lessons per week on 1-2 days. It lasts 12 weeks and includes 48 lessons.
